OUR MISSION
Hoofprints in the Sand’s corporation is organized and operated to empower and support those suffering from traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), especially veterans, as well as their families, through equine-assisted therapy and outdoor activities, and rehabilitative and therapeutic healing programs.
REDISCOVER YOUR PURPOSE
We help veterans overcome challenges through nurse-led, nurse-managed care focused on positive cognitive restructuring and transformative equine-assisted therapy. Set in a peaceful, natural environment in the Francis Marion National Forest, the program allows veterans to step away from daily stress to heal, regain self-worth, and reconnect, learning to manage thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to reduce stress and aggression.
Veterans gain emotional regulation along with physical and social strength through personalized care plans led by a registered nurse and supported by a multidisciplinary team. Hippotherapy, a specialized, medically based form of equine-assisted therapy, uses a holistic, experiential approach to trauma recovery, addressing both physical and emotional healing. All activities are guided with safety and veteran-specific therapeutic goals in mind.
This powerful alternative helps veterans facing mental health challenges rebuild trust, confidence, and overall well-being.
