OUR MISSION
Hoofprints in the Sand’s corporation is organized and operated to empower and support those suffering from traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), especially veterans, as well as their families, through equine-assisted therapy and outdoor activities, and rehabilitative and therapeutic healing programs.
REDISCOVER YOUR PURPOSE
We help veterans overcome challenges through nurse-led, nurse-managed care that combines positive cognitive restructuring with transformative equine-assisted therapy. Set in the peaceful natural surroundings of the Francis Marion National Forest, our program offers veterans a place to step away from daily stress, heal, rebuild self-worth, and reconnect.
Through personalized care plans led by a registered nurse and supported by a multidisciplinary team, veterans develop emotional regulation, physical strength, and social connection. Using hippotherapy and holistic, experiential approaches to trauma recovery, we support lasting healing, renewed confidence, and overall well-being.

Ongoing and routine donations for Hoofprints in the Sand, Inc., ensure Veterans and their families receive services from our equine facility at no cost to them. Your generosity directly impacts lives and fuels healing through transformative treatment in our naturalistic setting that fosters unique and powerful bonds for veterans overcoming PTSD symptoms that disrupt their daily life. This novel approach provides services that the Department of VA cannot, in reducing Veteran suicide.
